Your Future in Accounting
The Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting at Charleston Southern University (CSU) is central to the institutional identity and mission of the university. CSU’s mission is to create an environment of academic excellence in a Christian environment.
The Accounting program prepares students for leadership careers as Certified Public Accountants (CPAs), as corporate financial executives, as business owners, and as senior operational leaders in for-profit and not-for-profit organizations. The oft-repeated phrase, “You can’t run a business if you don’t know the numbers,” expresses the reality that accounting is the universal language of business.
In addition to mastering the skills needed to prepare an organization’s financial statements, CSU’s accounting program teaches emerging leaders to analyze operational results with a view toward strategic decision-making and sound financial stewardship. In addition to financial accounting, CSU’s accounting program exposes students to the unique disciplines of managerial accounting, systems and data analysis, legal entity planning, taxation (individual, corporate, and estate and gift), and compensation planning. Undergirding the entire accounting curriculum is an emphasis on developing communication skills, strategic planning, and innovative thinking – all from a distinctly biblical worldview.
Through the Nielsen Accounting Society at CSU, students are inspired to seek God’s purpose as they interact with accounting executives and build a sense of community on campus.
